Destination Weddings require a lot of effort to plan. Even if there are less people involved or the budget is smaller, there are many arrangements that need to be made. And, in most cases, it is essential to have a local contact that you can trust to handle the details on your behalf. Tip #1 - Identify your
needs and your budget
Before contacting anyone, visualize your wedding. Think about a 'setting' that
appeals to you, the time of day, the day of the week, the time of the year, the
number of guests, and how many elements of a traditional wedding you would like
to include (photography, wedding cake, flowers, a strolling violinist, etc.).
Think about how much you have to spend - TOTAL - and
whether that amount is flexible or not.
Tip #2 - Skip the package
Who needs a package? Not you! Once you can convey your preferences (including
your desired budget) to your designer/coordinator, the search for services can
begin! Get a realistic quote for the services you actually need and want, rather
than being enticed by a price that is attractive but does not meet your
requirements.
Tip #3 - Look for
Professionalism, Personality, Perspective
A wise bride-to-be will interview a few consultants or coordinators. Ultimately,
she should choose to hire the consultant/coordinator who exhibits
professionalism, a sincere personality, and the ability to understand the
client's perspective (point of view). These key points are important elements to
a good working relationship. Do not waste your time with anyone you feel is not
a good listener, too biased or bossy, or appears to be unavailable most of the
time.
